Lopez was walking with a friend in the 2400 block of South Albany when he mentioned he was having some chest pains, according to the suit. His friend called 911 even though Lopez told him repeatedly he was fine, and a Fire Department ambulance, fire truck and a group Chicago police officers arrived at the scene.
The police ordered Lopez to stop and come towards them, but Lopez told them he did not want their help and continued to walk away, according to the suit. The officers surrounded him and drew their Tasers to force him to come with them.
When he was Tasered, Lopez fell to the ground and hit his head, causing him to cry out, according to the suit. Police then arrested him and took him in an ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital.
