Tsering Gyaltsen, a 40 year old monk, from Kham Drakgo monastery is reported to have succumbed to injuries inflicted upon him, due to severe beatings by the Chinese police.Tsering Gyaltsen was arrested on 9 February 2012 for participating in a protest against the policies of the Chinese government in Kham Drakgo, eastern Tibet.It was reported at that time, that his back was broken due to beatings by the Chinese police.
