Joe Collins of AWPA said the recent crackdown on the KNPB rallies over the last few days indicate the security forces are taking a hard line approach to peaceful demonstrations and the situation is not helped by statements from The National Police chief Gen. Sutarman who said: “that the police would crack down on groups that intended to separate from the unitary state of Indonesia, including by strictly enforcing a ban on flying the Morning Star Bintang Kejora separatist flag, which West Papuans often try to raise in a special ceremony each Dec. 1″ He also said he would take firm action against protesters who resort to “anarchy”, including those involved in a West Papua National Committee KNPB rally in Jayapura recently, which turned violent and left nine people injured”

Please note that the occupation of West Papua is illegal under international law, when the American got involved they got the Dutch to sign an agreement asking the United Nations to occupy and administrate West New Guinea (West Papua). The UN is able to do so only if the UN General Assembly uses article 85 of the UN Charter to approve such a request / agreement, which Australia and the General Assembly did on 21 Sept 1962 by making General Assembly resolution 1752 (XVII); but by doing so the UN members made themselves subject to the legal obligation under article 76 of the UN Charter of promoting “self-determination or independence” of West Papua.
– A small detail Tony Abbott and other Canberra figures don’t want the public to know.
The US has been digging up hundreds of $billions of gold and other West Papuan wealth since the 1960s while the UN ignores its legal obligation, but the abuse can end if we get any UN member to submit an agenda item for the Trusteeship Council officially telling it about res.1752(XVII) which will force the Security Council members to hold a Trusteeship Council meeting and compel them to begin their duties under articles 85, 87, and 88 of the UN Charter which should compel the rest of the UN to begin honouring its obligations towards our brother & sisters in West Papua under article 76 of the Charter. Please read about the Trusteeship System which is being exploited, http://un.org/en/documents/charter/chapter12.shtml
