He wrote: ‘Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his “no reason to be alarmed” statement. MSM [mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!’
It was not clear what ‘excuse’ the President was referring to.
The mayor hit back Monday night, accusing the President of ‘fuelling division’ and insisting he did not have ‘time’ to respond in full.
The bizarre row began yesterday when the President laid into Mr Khan on Twitter in the aftermath of the terror attack, which left seven dead and dozens injured.
He sent a tweet accusing Mr Khan of telling Londoners there was ‘no reason to be alarmed’ after the attack – misquoting the Labour mayor who was reassuring the public not to be worried about the extra police on the streets.
The new exchange came just hours after Prime Minister Theresa May stepped in to defend the Mr Khan, insisting he was doing an ‘excellent job’ – although she repeatedly declined to criticize Trump for sending the tweets.
